PREP OF THE WEEK
Here is Kevin Ross. Kevin is a stalwart at my high school workouts. I don’t think he’s missed a day in the last seven weeks. Kevin is a good athlete at about 5’8″ and he can touch rim. That’s some pretty good hops for a ninth grader.
Kevin has improved dramatically since he started attending my high school training. I am efforting to get him to use his left hand more often. If you don’t have a left hand in high school, you’re as good as gone.
Kev is extremely coachable and he has his eyes on the prize: getting playing time over at that hothouse that is Chatfield HS. It’s brutally competitive over there and if you ain’t working to get better, you can rest assured your lab partner is.
Kev needed some work on his shot so he came to shooting one Saturday at is shooting much more competently now.
If you want to make your mark on the high school stage, nobody’s gonna do it for you. As that celebrated Liverpudlian, Ringo Starr noted, “it don’t come easy.”
Keep up the good work, Kevin!
For those of you who have not tried out high school skills training you are missing out, big time!
PRIVATE TRAINING WORKOUTS
I can take two kids in May for individual training. Contact me and I’ll get you the road to freedom(Van Morrison-Tupelo Honey).
I’ll say this about Van the Man. He could sing lights out but he’s so short I COULD POST HIM UP!
14th ANNUAL EDGE SUMMER CAMP
I will hold my yearly basketball camp the weeks of June 5th and June 12th at Summit Ridge Middle School.
Their will be four sessions:
Session one–9-11:30 week of the 5th
Session two–12-2:30 week of the 5th
Session three –9-11:30 week of the 12th
Session four–12-2:30 week of the 12th
Come to any or all. Many kids make a day of it and do all four sessions. You can mix and match days. Cost is $125 per session with siblings only $100.
That’s 12 and a half hours of skills per session. You’ll be amazed at the progress you’ll make in a week!
I call it basketball immersion. Come with your present skill level and come out with a game worth talking about.
Sign up here.
I am getting a lot of new kids every week at the gym. I want to thank everyone for recommending my program to all your bball loving friends and neighbors.
Playoffs are not far off. Isn’t it a good idea to get some extra time in the gym to prepare? A few more made shots here and there could get you to the next round. Crossovers, Kobe scoops, stepbacks, Max moves and a plethora of other ankle-breaking maneuvers are yours for the asking and taking.
Go to battle with some piercing arrows in your quiver instead of wet noodles.
Group is fast moving and hyper competitive. Get on the Edge train and don’t get off until skill call!
ARE YOU IN A FIX??
Everyone could use a Handyman right? Well, I’ve got just the solution for you for those projects that you’ve been putting off all year. Now it’s time to start the New Year off with some things checked off of your to-do list. My stepson John Huber, Cheyenne’s Dad is just launching his Handyman business—FIXED. I mean truthfully, he has been doing this for 10 years, but has finally made the leap to actually brand and market his incredible services. John can tackle any project no matter how big or small and provides professionalism, customer service and state of the art work. Here is a list of some of the work he does:
- General Carpentry
- Bathroom Remodel
- Window Covering Installation
- Floor Covering Installation
- Landscaping-including pond creation & repair
- Tree and stump removal
Just to mention a few….
Here is a link to his facebook page.
I have his business cards with me, so hit me up at Group, or contact me directly and I’ll put you in touch with John. He is currently doing a complete remodel of a rental property and it is amazing. My house would be in shambles without John.
Here is a picture of the pond he built.
I just dropped my first novel PEOPLES CHOICE which you can find on Amazon. It is a comic mystery set in the fictional town of Peoples Arizona. PC has a baffling whodunit; big, laugh out loud laughs, barmy, eccentric characters and an intrepid, albeit reluctant and somewhat out of his depth hero, Jud Barber, a callow highway patrolman whose life gets real complicated in his sleepy burg.
Warning: it is not for kids. It contains adult themes and colorful language.
If you are a reader who enjoys a compelling, breathless yarn or just wants to get some insight into what makes Mike tick (good luck with that), treat yourself to a copy of PEOPLES CHOICE and you will not regret it.
If you think Mike (I’ve found myself referring to myself in the third person lately–I don’t consider myself a big deal–not yet anyway) is pretty funny in his newsletters and demonstrates playful, side-splitting banter in the gym, you are in for a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL of wit and keen insight in Mike’s debut novel (FULL DISCLOSURE I have penned twenty-five screenplays–I am hardly a neophyte). Mike can turn a peerless phrase at the drop of a hat not that I’ve dropped any lately, hats not phrases. The phrases flow like the Amazon River.
Enough badinage: hark to Amazon (the wholesaler not the river) and one click will change your outlook on life. Mike needs your affirmation to say nothing of your $4.99.
